What top tips would you give to somebody starting to use social networking?

Think carefully before submitting, but really think about what are the top three or four tips you'd give them.

For example:
  • Only be friends with people you know in person
  • Never use inappropriate or offensive language

personal info could lead to trouble

don't start anything like a gang

block any rude messages

DON'T TELL THEM YOUR PASSWORD!

  • Stay friends with people you know
  • Don't share to much stuff. You never know who could be looking at it
  • Go into your settings and make sure they are all "friends only". Or even "Only Me"

  • only be friends with people you know
  • dont post things that can lead anyone to harm and hurt others!!
  • dont suffer silently immediately tell an adult... it could get worse

-Never use personal information.

-Dont do anything you dont want to.

-Keep your profile blocked.

-Block people who may ask you for personal question if you dont know them.

- NEVER TELL ANYONE YOUR PASSWORD!!!!

- Only add people you know.

- If trouble accures, e.g. bullying, tell someone

When you choose your password, pick something you'll remember, unique and to make it more secure, you could make it longer and include numbers to ensure you can't be hacked. :)

I think for Social Networks, you definately have to be careful on what information you are willing to share. Dont feel pressured to write anything on a Network that you arent happy about, just write what you are comfortable with. Also try and choose a password that nobody will be able to guess and also try not to pick a common one e.g password, abc123, 123456, monkey, letmein, (your first name) and others. Make sure you feel safe using the account and make sure the settings are private. ;) xxxx

  • Only be friends with people you know in person
  • don't share too much personal information
  • Don't say rude or horrible things that could offend people in any way.
  • don't put too many photos on facebook.
  • make sure your privacy settings are appropiate

never use offensive or racist language,

only add people you know,

don't tell anyone your password,

switch off your location settings on all smart phones when posting photos online!
