• Write the email
  • Read through it
  • Make sure that you don't:
    • Use any inappropriate language
    • Include any content that may be deemed illegal
    • Use language that may offend
  • Be careful which sort of files you attach to your emails
  • Remember that email is a relatively insecure message system 
  • Keep personal information in an email to a minimum 
  • Do not send key personal information by email (e.g. pin numbers)
  • Never send personal information to somebody you don't know personally
  • Respect the privacy of email addresses  (use CC or BCC appropriately)
  • Do not forward email without permission 
  • Keep separate school and personal email accounts  
  • Use a backup email account to avoid excessive unsolicited mail
