Be smart online:

  1. Think twice about what personal materials reveal about you before sharing them on the internet. They could have serious repercussions for your personal and professional life.
  2. Where possible, use a nickname rather than your real name, to protect your identity (e.g. when writing a blog). For more information on online privacy see these safer internet tips.
  3. Use privacy settings to set higher level of protection online.
  4. Only upload content that you have created yourself and ask anyone appearing in pictures and films for permission before uploading.
  5. Bear in mind: once you've uploaded something to the internet, it is no longer private and you cannot control where and how it is used.
