BBC WebWise online course
The BBC WebWise online course contains ten topics to help you become familiar with using the internet and email. Although not particularly aimed at children, some of the materials and quizzes might be suitable for older pupils.

Be Safe Online
The Be Safe Online website, produced by Learning and Teaching Scotland, provides advice and information about internet safety for teachers and parents and includes a section on using the word wide web.

The Big 6
The Big 6 is an American website offering a model for developing information skills covering for example the retrieval, evaluation and synthesis of information.

Bright Planet
This American website offers a comprehensive tutorial ‘Guide to effective searching of the internet’.

The Internet Safety Zone
The Internet Safety Zone website provides a range of internet safety information for children and young people.

Learning and Teaching Scotland
This website has a section on developing information skills and provides examples and ideas for developing an information skills programme; it includes the PLUS (purpose, location, use and self-evaluation) information skills model tool by James Herring.
